I like that the Dutch word for boombox is "ghettoblaster"
Well of course technically that would be the British English word for boom box, that the Dutch have adopted. The same device was also sometimes called a Brixton briefcase.

"Ghettoblaster": I didn't even think about it until now. It was the term that older people used, at least to me, it sounded as ridiculous to my born-in-the-80s ears as "boombox". I guess it kind of does have the word ghetto in it, doesn't it. There is, of course, a section in Wikipedia on it. posted by blacklite at 6:51 PM on November 5, 2007
Ok that was fun and all, but seriously, who's gonna clean this shit up? I need to purchase some jip and janneke bekers and a couple of luierpakjes. It's for christmas gifts, HELLO! ...and I am 100% certain that before it was called that it was known as a 'Harlem briefcase'.

Okay, from googling the tags, I gather this is some kind of flash thingy that was twittered to death about 3-4 days ago, and involves some Dutch company. The twitter comments also frequently reference "Rube Goldberg", sometimes when it's the only english phrase in a sea of Dutch.
I'm at least convinced this is real. Does anyone have any constructive ideas as to why I can't access it? posted by yhbc at 8:06 PM on November 5, 2007

yhbc, do you have adblock? If so, you might have the flash overlay thing-y on, or off or something. posted by ashbury at 8:17 PM on November 5, 2007

Hmm. All I get from the google cache page is an ominous-looking
You need to upgrade your Flash Player
I also notice there's a firefox extension on the google cache page. It is a combination of me using IE6 and something to do with my Flash player? I've tried it a dozen times at least, and all I get is the "this page cannot be displayed" screen.
