That...that was the most awesomest thing I have ever seen. I'm pretty sure I'm be stupider now, but I think it was worth it. posted by Stunt at 11:21 PM on July 8
Yeah, the music was pretty horrible, but a big titted Russian woman cleaning, being eaten by military zombies, and then eating a twinkie which cums in her mouth has it's place on the internet. And by that I mean it is the essence of the internet..... posted by lattiboy at 12:27 AM on July 9

Absolutely top-notch. Stunning compositions even for fleeting scenes and background details. We may have the new Michel Gondry here. posted by Rich Smorgasbord at 2:09 AM on July 9 [1 favorite]
But where's the American side? Would he really have had those powers if Reagan had not said "Mr. Gorbachev, eye-laser these zombies"? posted by fungible at 5:54 AM on July 9 [2 favorites]

I wouldn't call it the best music video ever made, but it was fun. A couple of points:
I was going to suggest that my Russian coworkers could translate when I realized that at least part of it it really is in English.
The whole thing is in English. Even the Cyrillic slogans are English in Cyrillic letters (at least the ones I had enough time to focus on). Listen harder, comrade!
And from the text on the linked page:
Mikael Gorbachov (that's how the Russians spell it)
Well, no, it's not. To be tiresomely pedantic, they spell it Михаил Горбачёв (the dots on the ё are optional), which can be transliterated as Mikhail Gorbachev (or Gorbachëv) and is pronounced /miχa'il garba'chof/. posted by languagehat at 6:23 AM on July 9 [1 favorite]
It really is 1998 all over again. But if my job is paying me five times what I should really be making, I'm going to be pissed. posted by b1tr0t at 7:04 AM on July 9

I didn't look at the slogans, but the grain silos have CCCP on them.

The visuals are too overpoweringly awesome to do something as mundane as mere listening.

Sure, in Russian. But maybe "that's how the Russians spell it" means "that's how the Russians (who are in this video) spell(ed) it (when they told me what to do)". posted by DU at 7:29 AM on July 9

This has officially replace Lordi's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" as my favorite video. The only way this could be more awesome is if it had ninjas. Or monkeys. posted by Ber at 7:48 AM on July 9

Yes, and that's the one bit of Russian in Cyrillic a foreigner would be expected to recognize.
