Yeah, it was in Keyboard Cat but it deserves a post. It's pretty cool. posted by GuyZero at 3:34 PM on May 6
God, I love that cowboy bebop theme - I can't find an MP3 of it anywhere (well, not on amazon)... not the original yoko kanno version, there's a remix...

Goodness. The ripple effect it creates can be intoxicating.
Good christ, now I'm going to see a distorted Grace Jone face fractal on the ground and walls for the next few hours. Like LSD mixed with paint thinner. posted by Burhanistan at 3:39 PM on May 6

Is there any way to set up a playlist of these things? Putting a bunch of music videos on this thing and playing it on fullscreen on my HDTV would be kickass for the background of a party. posted by burnmp3s at 5:07 PM on May 6

This website takes advantage of the limitations of the persistence of vision. You can think about an image longer, so in an odd way the video gets less overwhelming. posted by HeroZero at 7:28 PM on May 6
HeroZero - exactly. This works best (for my purposes) with quick-cut, chaotic videos, because it adds to the chaos, but allows you the freedom to catch what's going on at any one time. Plus, if you tool around enough with it, you can find column/row combos which match your beats and cuts pretty nicely and create unexpected awesomeness, which is why I've spent half my day watching the Outkast B.O.B. video on it. Little things keep popping up for me, like how the rows of gospel singers are swaying in alternating directions due to the timing, or how one record-scratching riff times out just right with the last image of the turntables exiting top-left.
This is just a fun toy all around. posted by Navelgazer at 7:34 PM on May 6
wow I had like 100 tiny videos playing at the same time! Whats the purpose of this website? posted by eiro0701 at 7:36 PM on May 6
Someone mentioned it upthread, but I couldn't find a link in the thread, so here's Tunak Tunak Tun. posted by mosessis at 7:59 PM on May 6
Protip: With thumpy music adjust the column setting so the leftmost frame is always on the downbeat. This makes every row sync up and with the right video you'll get vertical bands rapidly scanning across the screen.
If dance clubs had any sense these would be playing on full floor to ceiling screens all night
It would be neat to feed a few hundred links into a file and set this thing to autopilot on the big screen.Who wants to code up a script that matches the youtube unique portion of the URL to generate fresh URLS that load upon completion of a video? 123 not it! posted by Burhanistan at 9:16 PM on May 6

Who wants to code up a script that matches the youtube unique portion of the URL to generate fresh URLS that load upon completion of a video?
I briefly thought about doing this, but since the video just loops I think you'd have to do something like use the Youtube api to find the length of the video to know when to change to the next one. Which unfortunately pushed it over my low, low threshold of botheration.
Many favorites and happy thoughts to whoever builds a playlist tool for this!
OTOH, I'm guessing that whoever built this is probably awesome, and therefore will probably add that functionality eventually (the site seems to be very new). Though a nice email or three may help. posted by MetaMonkey at 9:46 PM on May 6
Yeah, it'd be fun to experiment with other patterns too, like boustrophedon or checkerboards or nonuniform delays. posted by hattifattener at 12:37 AM on May 7
I'll add NSFW. No sex or nudity but if your coworkers saw you watching this your reputation would likely suffer. Though if you do chance it I would recommend killing the audio. posted by barrett caulk at 9:57 AM on May 8
