warning. "really interesting" is not descriptive enough an adjective for... that... I mean it is and everything... But clicking leads to "wow, tentacles and guts! gross." Yeah. Mildly disturbing stuff, but the whole reincarnation thing I find fascinating. Good post, consider me affected! posted by Lacking Subtlety at 4:45 PM on June 1, 2009
I'm not sure if invoking the Elder Sign at this point would help, or hurt my remaining SAN score. posted by yeloson at 4:49 PM on June 1, 2009 [1 favorite]
If he were the reincarnation of Hokusai, he'd be... better... posted by cmoj at 4:51 PM on June 1, 2009 [2 favorites]
Umm... yeah. That's not really Hokusai's style... posted by Durn Bronzefist at 4:56 PM on June 1, 2009
"The reincarnation of Katsushika Hokusai" is a bold claim to make. The one with the guys hanging in the nets I liked, but apart from that, it seems he's still learning. Not that I'm some expert photog or something. It just looks like student work. Pretty cool though. posted by Marisa Stole the Precious Thing at 5:01 PM on June 1, 2009
But...Katsushika Hokusai never had a camera! posted by rand at 5:05 PM on June 1, 2009
Before committing art, please ask yourself the following questions:
1) Is it horrorporn?
2) Is it pedohorrorporn?
3) Will people stumbling across it on the Internet react by saying, "WTF, Japan?!?"
4) No, seriously, it's horrorporn, isn't it?
If you answer "yes" to any of these three questions, you may want to consider a new creative direction.
What, do the N, S, F and W keys not work for you either? There might have been minors with a view of the screen! posted by setanor at 5:35 PM on June 1, 2009
Favourited for "committing art". Awesome turn of phrase The Tensor. posted by Decimask at 5:39 PM on June 1, 2009
I can't claim credit for "committing art" -- I'm sure I've heard it somewhere before. posted by The Tensor at 5:43 PM on June 1, 2009
You can't really tell someone what is and what isn't art, but to me, this is not art. It's dead animals draped on people in tacky colors and situations.. and is just plain ugly. Not even in a poignant, "This makes a statement about your soul!" ugly.. just.. plain old, ordinary, "WTF is that on your knick-knack shelf grandma?" ugly. posted by Malice at 6:47 PM on June 1, 2009
I may not know Japanese art, but I know what I like. posted by digsrus at 7:13 PM on June 1, 2009
I was all ready to be totally disinterested, but then I read the comments.
You had me at "tentacles."
That's why I don't feel too bad if I occasionally read the comments before clicking the links. posted by adipocere at 7:55 PM on June 1, 2009
I liked the photos too. He's trying a little too hard to be out there and that detracts from them a little bit, but I still got a kick out of them. posted by Devils Slide at 9:52 PM on June 1, 2009
Somehow the sound effects make the totallyfuckingbatshitinsane photos more palatable. posted by ryaninoakland at 1:55 AM on June 2, 2009
Yeah some of these Japanese dishes can really get out of control when you are trying to prepare them. posted by gomichild at 4:44 AM on June 2, 2009

Photographers love Flash interfaces because it makes it harder to steal images. However, in this case, I believe it's unnecessary. posted by tommasz at 9:03 AM on June 2, 2009 [1 favorite]

The site has disturbing photos more than interesting ones.
Interesting refers to the way the web site is designed.
And NSFW [!].
That said, thanks for sharing. posted by Rashomon at 1:56 PM on June 2, 2009
