I use what I call a two-fisted approach to drinking golytely. (Coming up on my 10th scope in a couple of months, oh, joy)

By that I mean, for each glass of golytely I also have a second glass of cool (not cold) water in my other hand. I cam in to recommend the vaseline on the anus. By the time you may realize the need for it, it's far too late. The latter part of my prep was miserable.

Northampton MA is a nice small town (good food, cool shops, lots of live music) although perhaps a bit far. Jim Thorpe PA is closer and has some similar qualities on a much smaller scale.

When you say "planks", you should be thinking plywood.

Take four 4x8 sheets of plywood. Lay two down side by side. Apply a liberal amount of construction adhesive (PL-300 or the like). Lay the other two sheets on top, in the opposite direction. Drive in 1 1/2" wood screws every 12" across the sheet.

Once the glue sets, this will become a very solid platform for your purposes.

5 minute epoxy instead of crazy glue, put a dab on the end of a wooden match stick, or dowel and insert carefully into the jack (here's the important bit) THROUGH a small piece of a straw or piece of tubing that has been jammed up against the broken end. The straw will prevent the epoxy from getting on the jack itself. Let set and pull. Viola!

Here's a narrative that might educate. The young golfer, Carl Hibbert, Jr. , works a full time job, saves his money , and knows the value of a deal. We deal with this problem by:

(1) Taking our shoes off at the door and putting them into one of those shallow plastic bin-things made for that purpose. If you're shoes-inside people, switch from outside grubby shoes to inside clean shoes at the door.

(2) If the dogs' feet are likely to be gross, we wipe their feet off when they come in.

I'm only what they politely refer to as "partially sighted," which means my vision has uncorrectable errors-- retinal scarring, for instance-- but I'm not blind. I wear dark polarized glasses all the time because of damage to my left pupil that's left it incapable of adjusting to bright light. Glare is just about intolerable to me and leaves very persistent afterimages, and bright lights reduce my visual acuity.

I'm in the BCSWomen group - British Computer Society's women's network.

As other posters said, test sensitivity varies widely.

That said, the hormone that's detected by home pregnancy tests, HCG, will double about every 48 hours during a healthy pregnancy.
