Rural Texas native here, have dealt with this stuff often. First I think it's beyond reason to deal with any wasps, period, if you're allergic. Wasps are nothing to mess around with and you need to have someone else do this or hire an insect exterminator. I'm prepared to take the stings when I deal with a nest.

Similar, here in rural England. A few months ago I was in a village, for their fete, where I'd been to a church harvest festival back in the autumn of 2014. Two elderly women were chatting next to the early season vegetables. I got my workbench for $50 off Craigslist. Actually I got two identical ones and have one to my husband for his miniature painting. I did most of my work at a makerspace, though.

I got into woodworking this year and it seems like an inordinate amount of woodworking is making things in order to do woodworking and that just....bothers me on a fundamental level.

As an added thought: once you have provided her with dinner, you can say "I thought about sneaking it into your work fridge as a happy surprise, but I wasn't sure if you'd love that kind of surprise or hate it, so I went with asking first." That will both demonstrate respect for her as a person and prompt a conversation in which she tells you if she likes/hates surprises, likes/hates bringing her personal life into work, likes/hates the idea of you investigating her online, etc.

Somebody pointed out once that since you can build one of these with nothing more than masonry and a bit of pipe, and since you can use a simple mechanical device to split a compressed air stream into hot and cold, with just a tiny bit of modern knowledge the ancient Romans could have had air conditioning. It's within the reach of Iron Age technology.

Baking with yeast is SO weather dependent if you don't have central heating and climate control. I can bake reliably when the weather is too hot, because then the yeast will rise although the heat in the kitchen when I bake will make me sick at the end of the day, or I can bake when the weather is really cold and there is heat on in the house and I can find a warm spot next to heat to leave the dough raising. As I recall from a few half-rememberd experiences at the South Pole, sneezing without a face covering in the -70s F isn't too exciting. The water vapor in your exhaled breath turns to fog, but it slows down pretty quickly and rises just like a normal breath. The droplets probably freeze, but that doesn't really change their behavior visibly. It's less neat looking than just exhaling a lung full of air quickly. Like the Colossus/Negasonic relationship in Deadpool was absolutely perfect for how an X-Men movie should be. There's a really special and particular sort of camaraderie between the older and younger mutants at the Academy that isn't as simple as "teacher/student" and I think that was like literally the one time the nature of it was explored in film.
