Boy are the times a changin'. Kids and Parents disagree about music.

Nothing special about that.

But when your Dad is Bob Dylan, it makes the newspapers .

Just a thought: If your father is Bob Dylan, and he gives you advice about music, TAKE IT. Unless it involves singing gospel.

"You just can't be that good at everything you touch," Dylan says.

Hey, that sounds like a song right there, Bob.

Reminds me of a Dave Barry story I read years ago....a father and daughter were out shopping in NYC, and dad starting singing along with the Muzak. Daughter cringed in embarrassement, lest someone hear him, and begged him to stop.

Dad was Billy Joel, and while many people would pay money to hear him sing, daughter Alexa would apparently prefer he wouldn't do so in public.

You hit the nail on the head Barney. And so Dylanesque, I can hear him singing it right now. Living in the Dylan household must be gas.

How 'bout his son, eh? I still refuse to believe the Wallflowers would get near as much attention if not for the Dylan link.

Dylan: "What's this I found underneath your bed?"
Daughter: "Uh.. that's yours dad."
Dylan: "So it is. So it is. Guys I found it!"

Hildago: Hey, I like "Gotta Serve Somebody." Sounds like his middle name should be "Blue" on it, a la Bobby Bland. OK, sorta. But it's hilarious on a number of levels, most the obvious intent of Bob himself.

skallas: the CNN story is unsourced, but it's a summary of an AP wire story sourced from a Time magazine interview.

Me, I think it's Time trying to win attention for what is probably a typically Dylanesque exercise in "frustrate the interviewer". He's not as skilled in it or as dedicated to the art as he once was, but it seems to remain a favorite hobby.

Forget about the Wallflowers. Love and Theft comes out tomorrow! I've got the day off of work just to buy it and listen to it.

I think a lot of people say they like Bob Dylan because they're afraid people won't think they're cool if they don't. But I don't subscribe to that. Bob Dylan annoys the living crap out of me.

I can volunteer that I say I like Bob Dylan because I like Bob Dylan. And I like Bob Dylan because he fucking rules.

I far prefer Jakob Dylan's music to Bob's. Although Subterranean Homesick Blues is some crazy stuff ;-)

I'm with moss on this one.

And, as for The Times They Are A-Changin', there's an excellent version of it on Love and Theft.
