Silly me. I was expecting this Williamsburg. Sadly, no tricorn hats in sight.

That is a great idea and someone should make that. You have 3 days.

The comments were funnier than I expected. (but keep in mind I had very low expectations.)

If you think Tumblr is stupid and you also hate Williamsburg and you don't even like H-ween, you should still click this one picture below:

I don’t care how good the brunch at Egg is. This line is ridiculous.

Between this and the Kanye lyrics over Saved By The Bell screencaps, Tumblr is really coming through for me.

Though I agree, doing one with Colonial Williamsburg and hipster dialogue would be equally amusing if not more so. "I don't care WHAT Ben says, I'm only throwing that tea in the water if it's fair trade."

At first I was like HA and then I was like wait a second maybe I'm being a grouch but isn't this just Look At This Fucking Hipster and the 10 million other hipster-mocking sites that have done this joke to death since but with a thin layer of Halloween draped over?

At least a few of those are Matthew Silver, a regular performer on Bedford.

Making fun of people isn't very nice. But if you must: I have a beard, wear a cool pair of yellow Pumas, and have two copies of Mission of Burma's Versus record along with every single Pavement ever released on vinyl. Go ahead, have at it. At least it'll be more sporting that mocking strangers you've never met from the comfort of a web page on the internet.

Ghostride The Whip: "Though I agree, doing one with Colonial Williamsburg and hipster dialogue would be equally amusing if not more so. "I don't care WHAT Ben says, I'm only throwing that tea in the water if it's fair trade.""

Funny, but misses the mark by about 600 miles.

Very little meat on those bones. We could take pictures of hobos in any city and laugh at them or we could be decent people. Im going with decent people today.

a cool pair of yellow Pumas

clydes or gazelles, dude? this is vital information.

Eh most of the people are pretty clearly not hobos. They are dressing the way they want every day, whereas most of us get one shot a year to play dress up. These people are making cognizant choices, some are even minor celebrities in their neighborhood. Hipster or Homeless is pretty clearly in poor taste, but this is more like "do these people always dress like this or only one day a year," which is more fun to me. The street is a stage and all that.

Yeah, one of the peeps pictured on the tumblr popped up in /r/nyc and stated that it was in fact, Halloween in Williamsburg when his picture was taken.

Can we talk about cool shoes instead of predictable hipster jokes

This one. They were dressed as "party animals" for halloween.

How about we talk about how when you have a beard the beard tentacles crawl up through your face layers and implant suggestions into your brain meats saying that yellow shoes are something that someone should wear despite 10,000 years of razor-driven civilized clarity about the insidious nature of yellow shoes and common sense. I still miss my grubby old shelltoes that were signed by Run & DMC but alas not the late great Jam Master Jay.

I also have a pair of GV CCs which I like very much, although the jokes about "blue suede shoes" sometimes get tedious.

Also, elizardbits: miss? This implies that you do not possess those glorious shoes anymore; yet I fail to see how this could be so.

Not too long ago a guy came up to me outside a bar and said it was a good thing my feet were so small or he would have stolen my dopemans.

I remember when Al Jourgensen was the voice of my hipster generation.

Oh, why can't I live a life for me?

I'm wearing a pair of Patagonia clogs. That ought to give you something to work with.

Can somebody in a flyover state start a "Peoria or 1998 JC Penny Catalog" Tumblr?
posted by Threeway Handshake at 12:57 PM on October 27, 2011

Well, since you're in a flyover state, Threeway Handshake, maybe you should be the one to start that Tumblr.

The main reason this isn't funny is they're all pretty obviously Halloween pictures.

I miss Williamsburg whenever I'm not there. In spite of these wankers. Oh, okay then, I don't really mind these wankers either. Especially if I'm full of Fette Sau beast flesh and plenty of bourbon. Which I usually am. Ah, Williamsburg. I remember you before all the..... NURSE! THE SCREENS!

I was doing so well; they were all ridiculous, amiright? Then I got to her and was like...oooh, I bet I could make a variation of that work.

OK, time for my grumpy disapproval of something on the internet. This is pretty meh. Seconding that we continue to talk about cool shoes instead.

I like when hipsters get all butt hurt and act like they are an actual minority or are poor or oppressed or something.

You looking for outfit ideas or is 1998 still too current to be retro/hip?
