I watch this and immediately think "needs wider tires".

yes, it's pretty cool, but the thin tires also seem like a waste of good bubblewrap!

Yeah, pretty much jealous.

Needs more entourage, is all.

Yeah, he should be followed by a whole crew of kids on tricycles, and then tap dancers to finish it off.

That guy's squeaky stool is pretty darn cute too.

Am I the only one to think "how wasteful"? All that plastic ...

The Internet seems especially delightful today, I'm not sure why. But between this and the AskMe question about books for a Secret Room, it is making me happy.

Aaaaah, the sound of useless consumption…

For those concerned about waste, global production of plastic (all kinds) is roughly 500 billion pounds per year. A roll of bubble wrap that size is maybe five pounds. Just shy of 500,000 people have watched that video. The like/dislike ratio is 90% in favor.

I am totally okay with using 0.000000001% of this year's plastic supply to bring a smile to 0.006% of the world population. When two of these rolls are mounted standard on every new vehicle's front fender, I too will be concerned. But also amused.

This youtube version is missing some context. It looks like they edited out the first part of the video, in which he commissions the roll of bubble wrap from bioplastic thereby making a sizeable contribution to renewables and carbon sequestration, and also the whole second half, in which he pays his fun debt by volunteering for a month working with a wildlife rescue crew in the north Pacific removing plastic from the guts of sea turtles.

Oh, and hamburger aside, "jealous much?" is pretty much the standard d-bag response to criticism.

I heard this yesterday on NPR and I thought, "Geez, a playing card and a clothes pin will achieve a similar amount of noise." Now that I've seen the visual, I can also add, "and there's nothing to clean up afterwards."

Clearly he needs a collector spool behind the bike, like a film projector.

Aside from fail as a noun, "X much" is the most skin-crawlingly repulsive construction in the nerd English language canon.

I feel the same way about "party" as a verb. I've got a good group of friends, though, and they oblige me by no longer inviting me to party.
