Does it count as juggling when it's only one item?

Still cute.

Here's one doing THREE (and then just two) at a time. Juggle on, kinsman!

I'm going to be reincarnated as an otter, for pretty much exactly this reason.

Somebody needs to get these otters a snake puzzle or a Rubik's cube, stat.

Or some cups?

That's incredible! But I don't really consider manipulating one object juggling. Soccer Moms don't juggle soccer playing kids and nothing else.

In the course of this thread I discovered a delightful fact - the collective-noun for otters is "a romp". Which is just too god-damn perfect.

You guys have really high standards for otters

I thought it was awesome

OK, furry face, you've caught my attention. Now let's see what you can do with three of these bad boys.

the Japanese have a word for the situation I find myself in, a word which I do not often find myself thinking of or using but is the only apt response after seeing what I've seen there

UGUUUUU~~~~

Does it count as juggling when it's only one item?

The rolling-over-the-hand stuff at the beginning does, yeah; it's called contact juggling.

Also, this is awesome, and almost certainly related to otter tool use - most folks know this, right? - otter places a rock on its stomach while floating on its back and smashes clam or oyster against the rock to get to the meat inside.

I love otters, but I find this juggling otter somewhat disturbing. I'm not sure I like otter hands very much.

More Lutrine Prestidigitation at the London Zoo: wait for the playful pause about 25 seconds in.

I'm blown away by the other examples of otter juggling. How is it that something which must be a reasonably common behavior is not better known? Also, two thoughts:

1. They are so beautiful and playful. How cruel it is to keep them confined.
2. The otters in the New Orleans Aquarium are one lazy bunch of bastards, give them some balls and make them work for their living, crawfish heads don't come cheap.
