There is this dissonance where you are "yes I agree with you what your saying" and then "BIG FLOPPY JEWISH HOOK NOSES" and you go "oh well the 30s was another time" and feel bad and then it GETS WORSE

Yes, that van Buren cartoon really gets into the old Jewish stereotypes.

Ouch, yeah.
The creator of The Little King, Otto Soglow, was Jewish, and was politically/socially leftist, even while publishing in The New Yorker and Hearst newspapers. Which doesn't make the stereotypes in the cartoon OK. "It's complicated", as they say.
