I agree with most on the list Crank: High Voltage perfectly mocks every exploitation film...and does it with a serious tone (which to me makes it a laughable fun movie).

And sadly, every time Death Race is on (which seems to be alot) I end up mesmerized and I watch the whole thing.

Statham movies are predictable, but damn...so much fun.

While I enjoy several of his films, it's all been downhill from here, alas.

Would head-butting actually work in real life? Wouldn't you be as likely to knock yourself out as knocking out your target?

Your head bone is pretty hard. It's a safe bet. Works especially well if you are from Glasgow.

Yesterday, someone on /r/movies showed their DIY Jason Statham box set and it's pretty rad.

You apply the hard part of your head (i.e. the forehead, one of the most durable parts of the body) to the softest region of your adversary's head (i.e the face, preferably directly on the nose). Otherwise, going forehead-to-forehead - or worse, face-to-face - has you breaking even (no pun intended), as you rightly suspect. But keep in mind that a knockout is unlikely in any case; the goal is to severely mash up the other guy's features.

So many similar titles and plots... Though I'm intrigued to check out The Bank Job & Safe now.

Holy shit, I always just thought your username was an ode to a slightly strange frozen meatlike food product from the 80s and totally missed the obvious.

There's no way Hummingbird/Redemption is number 1. That was an incredibly boring movie.

I AM SO GLAD HUMMINGBIRD/REDEMPTION IS ON THAT LIST. Ace film. I went through the article wondering if it would be mentioned and it's, who'd a thunk it, number one, yay! This is the first time I've come across anyone else who a/ has seen it, or b/ could be bothered to watch it.

I think it's a subtle, unsentimental film with a cracking female lead - and more unusually, she's believably written.

Although for anyone in the UK, steer clear of the Lionsgate DVD - they appear to have shaved off minutes of exposition and it hasn't done the story any favours. Netflix was the better version.

You know, there's one thing Hummingbird does well that many, many other films have attempted unconvincingly. I'm not going to spoil what that is but people might find it fun to speculate.

One last comment re The Bank Job. There's a connection to Michael X and what V S Naipaul wrote of as The Killings in Trinidad (halfway down the page.) The murder of Gale Benson is depicted in the film.

Which really does have a very 60's vibe...plus a super-contemporary edge in showing the utter corrupt complicity of the British ruling class.

Redemption's on Netflix in the US, I watched it last night and really liked it.

Blitz is also on Netflix, and I watched that last night. Paddy Considine was great, as was Zawe Ashton, but I don't think I'd put it as high up the list as TFA.
