Where'd you get that body double from?

Psy (previously) (previously) (previously) is back with a somewhat surreal and arguably catchy new single and video: Daddy (ft. CL of 2NE1)

This homage will.i.am's I Got It From My Mama is another example of Psy's style crossover with english-language artists.

Naturally, not to be confused with Psy's Father, which takes a more heartfelt view of paternity.

oh man this was so much better than I expected. I don't know anything about anything but I think his dance moves are intentionally hilarious, especially the juxtaposition of skill and energy onto the young and old versions of his family members/himself.

Here's a bass clarinet concerto taking the form of theme + variations (with the variations coming first) based on "Gangnam Style". (I was considering making an FPP just for that but it seemed a bit thin.)

I am still disappointed that Psy never made a bizarre Christmas-themed version of Gangnam Style, complete with prancing reindeer. Oppa Santa style!

He released Napal Baji the same day as Daddy.
It's just as crazy and toe-tapping infectious.
I love me some Psy.

This is my absolute favorite video and song of his. "It's Art."

Psy is the millennial equivalent of Falco, and I am here for it.

My aural equivalent to Bad Lip Reading is bouncing around the office singing "nipple badger, nipple badger."

This may affect my performance review.

I just blew out my hearing because I hit the volume up button on laptop. Hint: the first several seconds have no sound.

However, I have since cranked the volume back up and look forward to using YouTube's newish speed option to break down Psy's dance moves.

I'm really digging his bi-lingual rhyme schemes.. I wish I understood any Korean so that I could get the full effect of it.

You know, I was bothered by the fact that he limits male success to getting lots of women. It really lessened the appeal of the video for me.

Napal Baji with English lyrics closed captioning.

It's about time that the bell-bottom got its own song.

Some Korean big name cameos in the "Daddy" video - musician/composer/producer/music show host/K-pop Star judge Yoo Hee Yeol (Yoo Hee Yeol performing with his Antenna Music labelmates, the second song, "Passionate Goodbye" was written by Yoo Hee Yeol) is the doctor delivering baby Psy, and top actress Ha Ji-won is young Psy's not very impressed teacher.

One of my favorite Psy songs is still Right Now.

Welp, it was pretty catchy. He needs to really reward his songwriters/producers.

And here's Psy performing "Napal Baji" + "Daddy" + "Gangnam Style" at last night's 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Yes, that is Chow Yun Fat going all Gangnam Style with Psy.

I really digg Napal Baji .. I just feel that beat :)

From my daddy is interesting as it's a totally different style (I almost feel a Scooter vibe) but it too is catchy. It just really bugs me that the chorus ("I got it from daddy...") cuts on the third repeat. Somehow my ear is trained to expect a fourth, where a cut off would be fine, but cutting on the third just jangles me and even though it could be one of those 'do something unexpected to ...' well, do something, it just really bothers me.
I remember a Beyonce song like that, where she really should have rhymed using 'minute' instead of 'second' (or the other way around), but didn't, and I just think it's really jarring: so much so that it has to be intentional, but any reason possibly given just doesn't change the fact that it reduces the easthetics of the song for me.

@oddman: you do haveto realise that South Korea (and pretty much all of asia) is very much a man's world. It's like the US in the 50's, kinda. Not excusing it, just giving a reason. And even then, I somehow find it better and healthier than the onstage porn of Madonna and Miley, if you look at the female dancer's routines.

Between this and the It's Art video (linked above) it's obvious that he puts on a good show. I love that he doesn't even bother to keep up the pretense of lip-syncing a good chunk of the time.

On reviewcontributing way too many views to these videos this week, I think that Napal Baji is the better of the song/video combos, but I can see why he'd want to promote Daddy more as it's more likely to be accessible to his English speaking audience.
