That's interestIng since this is the exact joke I made at least 5 years ago (You have to scroll down four entries to "I Am Lord Voldemort")

Ha, I am delighted that two people came up with the "Marmot Dildo Lover" idea independently. As well as this idea in general. If you want to do your own, I recommend Internet Anagram Server (for a more manual experience) or Sternest Meanings (for a more automated experience).

Now, I've never read the books/seen the movies, but if Voldemort didn't want people to know who he was, why didn't he just pick a completely unrelated name, like... Bob Johnson, or, Alan Jefferson, or something?

SansPoint, I'll try not to threadsit too much but Voldemort is canonically pretty pompous, and in many ways this is his tragic flaw. He makes similar decisions about how to preserve his would-be immortality, where something less risky and showy is possible, but isn't his style.

That's sort of the crux of the issue. I can buy a guy coming up with a new name to launch his career as a dark lord, especially if he hates his old name. But why slavishly concoct an awkward anagram that ties your new name to your old? Just call yourself Darth Mugglekill and be done with it.

He originally came up with it when he was like 13 or 14 to impress people at school.

Is it really any worse than choosing "Kylo Ren?"

Mad-Eye Moody sees what you did there.

Dildo-Mom, Art Lover

Well, I for one now know what it'll say next time I get business cards printed up.

Mr.Encyclopedia, that's gold.

"... I'd like to see you come up with an Anagram for Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore."

Voldemort is canonically pretty pompous

As demonstrated by the fact that his anagram name isn't "Lord Voldemort", it's "I Am Lord Voldemort". If he hadn't gone to Hogwarts, he'd be the guy who insists that the band name be an entire sentence and get really pissed when people tried to shorten it in conversation.

"No, Celia, we aren't 'Die Alone', we're 'The Wolf and the Deer Both Die Alone'."

This incidentally can create translation conundrums into other languages, especially Chinese (link also discusses Japanese and Vietnamese). It basically doesn't really work and the translator either has to footnote two seemingly different sentences with the fact that they are anagrams in English, or straight-up just use English and add a parenthetical translation (which doesn't, of course, preserve the wordplay).

If anyone's wondering what Dan, the writer of these anagrams, is up to...
