Supper Mario Broth is a wonderfully obsessive blog devoted to all sorts of Super Mario Brothers minutia. Really, you are not prepared for this. Things like....

• Super Mario Bros.
  • The Goombas in the original SMB have the same silhouette (other than feet) as the Super Mushrooms
  • The "Little Fiery Mario" glitch
  • You can make Mario dance at the top of a vine
  • Miyamoto's original sprite design sketches for Super Mario


• Mario 2:
  • Animated tiles in Super Mario 2 have a whole frame in the ROM that's never shown
  • You can make the logs in Mario 2 levitate using a POW block. You can also make enemies float up off-screen.
  • You can get stuck in Mario 2 at the very very end, after beating the final boss


• Mario 3:
  • The Hammer Bros. suit can kill Boos and the Tanooki Suit can kill Roto-Discs. The Tanooki Suit can also kill the rocket flames on the airships!
  • There is exactly one place in Mario 3 where the Hammer Bros. suit can slide down a slope
  • The Tanooki Suit can kill you in Mario 3
  • Maybe Kuribo's Shoe was only in one level in Mario 3 because it can be used to double-jump
  • There's a graphics glitch involving invincibility and vines


• Super Mario World
  • Freezing Mario in Super Mario World.


• Yoshi's Island
  • The infamous distortion effect from touching Fuzzies in Yoshi's Island can be carried over to the map screen


• 3D Games
  • You don't have to ride the carpet at the beginning of Rainbow Ride in Mario 64
  • That door in the first course of Mario Galaxy has a note on it that you can read... but it's really a signpost right behind the door
  • All the models in Mario Galaxy have an extremely bright light pointing behind them directly at the camera

• Miscellaneous Games

  • Wario's idle animation from Wario World
  • FLUUD, Mario's water jetpack in Sunshine, doesn't reflect in mirrors

I'm something of a Mario geek. Haven't checked the site yet but does it have the fact that *SPOILER* if you run along the top of the underground level in Mario 1 there is a 'warp zone' that allows you to cheat and skip to later in the game?

It's pretty sweet!

I am however disappointed that this led to a gif and not, as it should have in any just universe, to a vine.

Definitely deserves a 1UP for all the original concept art (man, Shigeru Miyamoto can really draw...would love to see a version of SMB rendered completely in his original sketches.

Whoa! I always figured that Kuribo's Shoe was only in one level because it's just too special and awesome to have all the time, like Christmas or really expensive chocolate.

Like Cap'n Crunch "Oops! All Berries" cereal, somebody really ought to do a remake of SMB3 where everything's the same except you're in a Kuribo's Shoe the whole time.
