The film itself is a wonder.
The game looks incredible and I may end up buying my first gaming system since I was a kid just to play it.
Will it suffer from similar problems as No Man's Sky and Spore? Maybe, but I imagine the intentions are very different here.
This is the 2nd time in a week that Alan Watts has come up after not thinking about him for years. The first was his vocal sample in the Giraffes? Giraffes! song "I Am S/H(im)e[r] As You Am S/H(im)e[r] As You Are Me And We Am I And I Are All Our Together: Our Collective Consciousness’ Psychogenic Fugue"

Also, if people are interested in listening to more Alan Watts, there's a lot available.

Maybe the ridiculous total lack of walk animations will help rein in people's expectations, avoiding a No Man's Sky / Spore / anything-Peter-Molyneux-did-since-1999 type situation.

Well, hell, rotation counts as animation, surely.

I was going to give my students a homework assignment on character animation next week. But now I am filled with doubt.

Why did they use for the video's sound an audiolog from The Witness?

A small (and as always, very readable) book by Watts is The Book. Of all the books by that title, it may be the best. It changed my life. Concise, clear, straightforward. If you haven't read him, see what you think of the quotes on that Goodreads page.

The voice-over is marvelous, and I love this guy's work, but in terms of a gaming experience, at the risk of seeming shallow, I still think I'd prefer something where you run, jump, and hit people.
