Architectural Photography as a Construct

These pictures by David Cardelus may be the finest architectural photographs I've ever seen, and they're beautifully presented. And, as an added bonus is a link to a specific piece of architecture, a facade by the Catalan architectect jeroni Granell, which has been preserved even though the house behind is totally rebuilt. 75 Padua St. Barcelona.
Yea I was just in Barcelona and found it absolutely stunning, so much beautiful architecture.

They're pretty, but they look like advertising photos (which they are, I suppose). For my money, Bernd and Hilla Becher still rule.

Hela! for the reach of MetaFilter—got a Facebook message this morning from the photographer David Cardelus, thanking me for the hundreds of visitors to his site.

I think Shulman and the Bechers are all excellent but I, as you maybe could tell from some of my other posts, am seduced by saturated color and a strong sense of place, especially the Mediterranean area.

Barcelona was by far my favorite city in Europe. Rome was awesome and felt like an archaeological dig site in the middle of a city. Paris was beautiful but felt more like a museum to me than a real city.
But Barcelona...Exciting and daring architecture just there, hanging out in the middle of a working, living city. These photographs are wonderful and bring back memories of me wandering around the city just gawping at the buildings.

Not sure what the word "construct" is doing in this post… No surprise that anything building-related is constructed!

"Construct" is used by the photographer trying to explain his philosophy. He says one "constructs" a photograph, (maybe like one constructs a building?). That's as far as I'm prepared to go.
