Just as a little added information, if as you leave Ft. Collins, you put on the first two Clash albums (The Clash, and Give Em Enough Rope) back to back, they will carry you all the way to Denver. True story.

I'm working in a new shop with new people in a new city these past few weeks. Today one of the gals and I went to lunch, and when we got into my car, my favorite tiny little punk band City Mouse was playing. "Wait, you know City Mouse? I fucking love them!" From that one sentence, from that one song, the beginnings of what seems like it's going to be a strong friendship. Everything here is brand new, but in that one moment, I started to feel like I've found my people, or that they're out there, at least.

When I was a teenager growing up in the 1970s, punk music was a revelation. The prevailing progressive rock bands played long, complicated songs; the gap between them and teenage me was unbridgeable. Whereas, when I listened to punk, I thought, "I could do that, or at least I could do something."

I never got deeply into music, but I did a bunch of creative stuff as a younger adult, and it would never have occurred to me that this sort of thing was even possible without the late 1970s punk bands to serve as an example. I hope that the young kids today who are into punk become inspired in the same way.
