Cyriak (previously) is dead. ...DEAD tired of not releasing anything while working on his book about a horse that tries to destroy the universe (trailer)! So he's released RIP, his variously whimsical and... Cyriakian 21st century take on Disney's 1929 Silly Symphonies short The Skeleton Dance.

With a title like RIP and Cyriak not having released anything in a while, how the hell could I waste the opportunity?

It's only been 3 1/2 months since his last piece. Which was posted here. If he's releasing things on that tight a schedule, he's working really hard, as far as I understand his workflow.

Hot damn. For my three-year old who's obsessed with skeletons, and dressing as one tomorrow... I should let him sleep, right? And not wake him up at 11:34 to make him watch this?

*under breath chanting* Wake him up! Wake him up! Wake him up!

I'm in my mid-40s. I look at myself every day in the mirror wondering how it all went so wrong. That's not him. The music is solid, tho.

Oh, man. For a second... I was going to be so sad if we lost Cyriak. His brand of weird and creative is what makes the Internet wonderful, we need so much more Cyriak in the world. Not his weirdest, but anytime I need a quick cheer-up I load meow mix and enjoy the multiplying cats and the reaction from my cats when they try to figure out where these infernal meows are coming from.

That is the least terrifying thing Cyriak has ever made!

I dunno, an eternity of hating the alarm clock, going to work, and banging on a computer for no discernible reason seems pretty terrifying to me.

I never realized The Skeleton Dance was inspirational for The Human Centipede until now...

My kids will love this. Of course, they'll want it to the tune of "Spooky Scary Skeletons".

Wonderful! I had just shown one of his older sheep animations to a friend recently, this is even more delightful and seasonally appropriate!

Ambrosia Voyeur: For my three-year old who's obsessed with skeletons, and dressing as one tomorrow...

Somewhat tangential to the topic, but a fun story nevertheless. A friend of mine wanted to dress up as a skeleton for Halloween trick-or-treating back in the mid-70s. This being an era of homemade costumes, he painted the bones on his body in glow-in-the-dark paint and just wore his underpants. Yeah, yeah, glow-in-the-dark paint's probably toxic to have on your skin. Did I mention it was the 70s? Anyway, I digress. It looked awesome as he walked down the street in the dark. All you could see was a creepy glowing skeleton. The problem came when he knocked on someone's door. They would turn on the porch light and he'd be transformed from a glowing skeleton into, yanno, a ten-year-old boy wearing nothing but his underpants.

I like Cyriak's animations a whole lot, but I find watching them *exhausting*. Am I alone in this?

I find his body horror ones much more difficult to watch in series than his whimsical ones.
