What a precious bean!

My dachshund puppy did this in a park once. It caused less delight than you would have thought it would.

I'd prefer the dog, which is probably cleaner.

Awwwww unexpected kid hugs are the best. I try to be super cognizant of never making a child feel pressured to give hugs, so when they decide to just give out a million of them, wholeheartedly.. thatā€™s just pretty awesome.

Would also eagerly accept this from anyoneā€™s dog.

Oh my god, I thought it was going to be, like, GOODBYE goodbye. I am weeping from relief!

Kid also knows how to end a hug, with that polite little stiff arm, not everybody manages that.

Awwww!

Kids that age are walking germ factories. Cute huggable walking germ factories.

Would hug anyway.

We went to Korea recently and I learned that my tiny blonde two year old will take Korean grandma's by the hand and lead them around malls, airports, parks...where ever and they just let her! If I could have just dropped into a swoon I might have.

I will not play at tug o'war.
I'd rather play at hug o'war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

My favourite parts are the reactions to a surprise hug from behind. "What the?! Oh, I'm being hugged. Is this ok? Yeah, this is good."

Johnny, itā€™s been a long, hard ride and tā€™ainā€™t over yet. I, too, thought this was the long bye-bye and thrilled I was wrong. Thanks for posting!

The funniest thing about this, to me, is that at this age hugging a bunch of strangers goodbye at the music festival is not that categorically different from hugging a bunch of barely-remembered or never-before-met aunts and uncles and second cousins goodbye at the big family Thanksgiving.

Adorbs!

On the threadreader link I got served an ad to ā€œclick to vote republicanā€ with Dumpā€™s face in a rather distopian looking red and blue, two-tone bad filter photo-illustration. Poor targeting.

I saw something similar to this when I was a banker at a retail bank branch. Mom comes in with a kid about the same age, maybe a little older. The kid walks around the branch to every single person, plants himself in front of them and waves while saying, "Hi!"

Mom stands in line and keeps an eye on the kid. After he personally and individually greets everyone, he goes back to mom and they stand in line. A few minutes later mom has completed her transaction and it's time to leave so she says, "Time to go. Say, 'Bye bye.'"

So he does...to each person individually in the exact reverse of when he came in. Mom just waited patiently with a bemused look on her face.

My heart grew three sizes that day.

Obviously adults wandering up to people and hugging them would not go over well (and rightfully so), but wow would it ever be great if all of us could keep a little more every day of the sweetness and generosity as adults that we all start out with.

Also, I'm a little bit jealous, because those looked like some pretty awesome hugs.

We need to make sure we keep this clip handy so that when a higher civilization comes here and is deciding whether we should be wiped out of existence for the good of the universe, this much at least can be factored in our favor.
