Tried to watch the very first episode. Was dismayed to see the eagle attacking the goat. Pass.

The Dan Deacon: When I Was Done Dying episode got me into this show. No goats are harmed (that I can remember). Give it another try if you like visual and audible surrealism!

Off The Air is consistently the best outlet for experimental and avant garde animation this side of a major film festival. Every episode I see something that makes me say, "How did they do that?" I think like most people I discovered it after falling asleep on the couch and waking up at 3 AM to utter madness on the screen. They should rename the show "WTF?"

Tried watching first 2 videos, they seem to be blocked. (Canada)

"Blocked, sorry there must be some kind of restriction on the content we are streaming here. Check back later or try another stream."

Sorry about that... I missed the unicode policy thread. The intent was to emulate visually the surreal flavor of the show itself; but I can understand the annoyance factor in listening to strings of unicode descriptions instead of an actual word.

Come to think of it, the show is a lot like listening to strings of unicode descriptions.

skinnydipp: here's a link to a youtube playlist of all the episodes (approximately 11 minutes each). I hope it's not blocked in Canada!

12 years in and I still can't metafilter correctly!

I lurve me some Dave Hughes! Whenever my partner and I need a lift, we watch the opening sequence to Liquid.

Dave appreciated the relative obscurity of the show’s early days. β€œI really enjoyed the earlier run of the show, when people would catch it accidentally on television late at night and then tweet about it, or go on Reddit trying to figure out what was happening and why,” Dave says. β€œSome people seemed to wonder if they were dead, which is a pretty satisfying reaction and a good thing for everyone to think about sometimes.”

How Dave Hughes’ Adult Swim show became a haven for the world’s weirdest content
