Btw the katakana reads:"Super Mario Brothers," and these are specifically Mario themed CMs, not just Nintendo generally.

I love how they just get more and more unhinged and that's only like the first five minutes. I can't imagine what watching the whole hour in one sitting would do to a person.

I skimmed and watched most of it. It's roughly chronological and proceeds through the various game system iterations over time. There's some deeply weird stuff in the first third or so, including a weirdly obfuscated ad for the Super Mario Bros movie.

There's also some traditionally animated bits like Mario swinging Bowser by his tail long before the N64 came out that clearly had to have been the inspiration for those Bowser battles in the Super Mario 64 game, and it's really cool to see how solid the world building and intellectual property is. There's a bunch of ads where the idealized cartoon version of Mario from the 80s and 90s is the same Mario and other characters that become fully realized in 3D in the N64 games and systems after that.

Like it's actually kind of impressive how consistent it is.

There's also a cool ad for the highly regarded Yoshi's Island featuring the gorgeous colored pencil and crayon pop up book style art for the game which I've never seen before.

The latter half of the video is much less weird and basically everything after about the era of the n64 or Game Cube is much more sedate, straightforward and classic, clean, family friendly Nintendo aesthetics.
