Everything happens so much

Ten years ago today, the Twitter account @horse_ebooks tweeted "Everything happens so much". 2016: Present Tense Journal - "The Moral Act of Attributing Agency to Nonhumans: What Can Horse ebooks tell us about Rhetorical Agency?" 2014: Pitchfork - "the strange fatigue of digital life..." 2013: Medium - "Happy third birthday, @Horse_ebooks!." Previously on MetaFilter: Sep '11, Jan '12, Feb '12, Apr '12, Feb '13, Aug '13. Also previously: (23 July 2013) Something is going to happen in 77 days and (24 September 2013) Something is going to happen ... tomorrow (thread contains reveal point, much MeFite arguing, and reactions -ve and +ve).

And it allegedly used a primitive algorithm, even more primitive than Markov chains. It was also human-curated, though the same goes for many of the modern AI-powered monkey-navigated shit-posting Dril-bots.

I have a lot of favorite horse_ebooks tweets, but this is the one I find myself quoting the most, even if it was by that liar account destroyer.

@horse_ebooks was one of those accounts I didn't need to follow because a lot of poeple I followed would retweet the good stuff anyway. I didn't realize they stopped posting, but the sellout is kind of hilarious. Acquisition ruins the thing being acquired once again!

I think @dasharez0ne has gone through some changes as well, probably around (checks wikipedia) the time that the card game came out (2018). I never knew about the card game, but I did notice a distinct drop in hilarity and I don't think I suddenly got more mature.
