It's great that she's happy living her life and all, but as far as I know she still hasn't recanted her defense of one of the UK's most dangerous transphobes, so ::shrug::

I haven't watched the video yet, but her autobiography "Believe Me" is great. The audiobook version is fantastic because she veers wildly off the script, does impromptu riffs, chats with the sound engineer: it's totally worth getting that if you like audiobooks.

I know there was debate about whether it counted as a recantation or not, but Izzard criticized that transphobe for escalating rhetoric in a radio interview earlier this year.

I have had an enormous crush on her ever since I heard of her. I am glad that she has come into herself. Can't wait to watch this later.

As for what she'd said, I was not happy with it, but people do not automatically have up-to-date takes just because they have marginalized identities. Rowling is worse every day and if you're watching social media, you see that, but Izzard has been busy with a lot of stuff.

We JUST saw her Remixed stand up set in DC last night and she is ON HER GAME - wild audience and deep love in that room. Thanks for the link!

ersatzkat that is so exciting to hear! we are going to see her on that tour as well and my partner was a little trepidatious about a "remix" set. (I understand the concern but was like, honey, every conversation we have ever had is just a remixed Izzard set, really. We're stuck on shop demo.)

Hardcheese (can I call you Hardcheese?) - it's a LOVELY mix of new and old - and old isn't "playing the hits", it's largely riffs on old subjects with JUST enough hook for the audience to be all "YAYYYYYYY". At the Warner Theater night 1 stop, it was LONG, too. Not sure if that will settle in after touring a while, but we started shortly after 8 and wrapped at 10:30 or so. There was one brief intermission and 1 "encore" of sorts. Fabulous - ersatzjef and I are long-time, hardcore fans and it was worth being out too late on a school night!!

Thanks, TheophileEscargot. I had an Audible credit burning a hole in my pocket, and now I've spent it, and am very much looking forward to this.

I am in awe of her in so many ways.

I am a very latecomer to the game, but my husband is a near 30-year Izzard fan and just recently introduced me to her work. We’ve been working our way chronologically through the shows available on streaming, and I’ve been reading about her life. I am in awe, and I also have a massive crush. This is a person who has been listening to themselves and living their own truth since day one, long before there were codified road maps for much of their path. She’s also a deeply committed humanist who is looking more for connection than estrangement, her views are evolving constantly, as our all of ours. Her willingness to think it through for herself, in her own time, is not only a true self-guided life, but also an acknowledgment that there are many more paths, and many more complex constructions, of identity than we have ever yet imagined. Her testament to freedom and humanity are amaZing.

We are going to see Remix in NYC and I cannot wait. I may fangirl badly.

Just saw Remix last week in Nashville, and it's an amazing, insightful show.

My only disappointment is that I forgot to wear my meundies that are covered in bees.
