I love everything about this except for the really extreme retuning of the vocals at the beginning. I feel like, maybe, this project started off with that as an experiment but then got farther into the mashup game and they started doing a real mashup instead of that vocal recasting.

Anyway, the later 3/4 are better than the first part. Also, my browser shows me has weirdly having seeing this before, so you have good taste.

but the original funkytown *totally* opens with a vocoded voice IIRC? It's not the same as modern retuning effects but it's the same vibe.

I can't get Youtube to play stuff for me unless it's an embed, so this post is about to hopefully let me check.

...yes, it starts with vocoding, I think "retuning Trent" totally works. YMMV.

"Bad Mother" is really well blended together! Never Gonna Give Your Teen Spirit Up is one of my favorites that some how works, and This is America so call me maybe (the original was taken down unfortunately), which doesn't remix the songs so much as just swaps the music and videos to create a weird commentary on the ubiquity of four chord pop songs.

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I think this mashup of Slipknot and Justin Bieber still sets the high-water mark for mashups.

I love this channel.

A legitimate bop is the B52s/Slayer mashup of Rock Lobster and Raining Blood

The most cursed mashup is Weezer's Beverly Hills as the Twin Peaks intro. I don't have the vocabulary for the feelings this brings out in me. It's objectively hilarious but it's also the truest act of musical blasphemy I can think of? There's evil intent behind it.

A friend introduced me to If You Wanna Breathe My Sulfur last week (as an FB comment on another friend's post of Closer but Funkytown, coincidentally). Immediately became my new mashup love.

Mashup production has come a long way. Smells Like Bootylicious is SEVENTEEN years old now?!

Soulwax and the Kleptones were always my favorites back in the day. Night at the Hip-Hopera is a good one if you never heard it, and I can't tell you how many times I pumped The Grey Album back in the day.

I thought about posting that one dlugoczaj but felt that Call Me a Hole wins because I seem to recall Charlie Clouser calling it an abomination.

There's a Trent solo version of I Really Like a Hole too.
