Oh these are great, thanks so much for posting! Reminds me of Irish company Izzy Wheels, blinged out wheel covers for every occasion.

Oh, wow. This is a real treat of a read, and the photos brought me a lot of warm fuzzy feelings! Thank you for sharing it!

The eyepatches reminded me of something my dad did for my brother.

This was really nice to read. The painted helmets worn by smiling babies was my favorite.

Aw these are nice. I use a CPAP machine when I sleep and one nice upgrade has been a fabric cover for the hose. It's simple and inexpensive but looks homey and cuts down on any noise when the hose rubs against something when I move. Etsy is full of these. They make good Christmas presents if you know someone with a CPAP.

This is really lovely. I broke my leg 12 or so years ago and a bunch of friends came over and bedazzled my cast. It was quite beautiful and when I got it removed the technicians were blown away.

I volunteer to deck out anyone who wants decking out! The closest I've gotten to this is making a custom ski mask for someone who wore an eyepatch, but I'll do it !

Love this. I've been daydreaming about sewing fancy, stretchy printed nylon sleeves or web-like crocheted decorations for my prosthetic exo-leg, to show her off a bit. Haven't gotten around to actually doing it yet, but someday!

What a great idea for a story, thanks for posting.

Working in pediatric intensive care, I've stopped asking parents where they obtained cute accoutrements or accessories for their DME or other health care needs. So often the answer is "there's this one person on Etsy!" I think the customizations for casts and wheel chairs have been around for a long time but the rise of I the internet niche craft economy seems to have really spurred a boom of options.

It feels kinda crass to think of it this way, but i'm sure given the capitalist culture we live in, just having have these options being made can make some families feel less alone. For whatever reason some people don't get as much from support groups or online communities, but I know that the realization that someone else has this skill and their kid also had this issue and they can actually make money selling this item, there's a kind of validation/feeling of being seen from that kinda of market recognition.

I'd really like to turn my CPAP into a Giger Alien setup, like this.

I'd really like to turn my CPAP into a Giger Alien setup, like this.

There are lots of people selling versions of those, were you to actually want to do so. Example.

I can't decide if that's awesome or deeply deeply alarming.

Ah, that one's out of stock. I'll keep looking.
