From the FAQ: I found a duck is the first global duck race happening across the face of the earth and across the web. 500 ducks have been deposited across London, each duck has the website address around its neck and a unique ID number ( DUC001 through to DUC500 ) Each person will then report the duck (along with photographic evidence if possible) and leave the duck someone else or pass it on to someone travelling somewhere distant.

That looks so neat!
So I was quite disheartened to see that it seems to all seems to have died out in 01 or 02...is this still going?

Looks like the original round was in 2001, but since then there have been other events.

i was reading the post thinking "passing ducks. what about people getting bit and what not. not to mention the mess"


upon reading the site, i learned they were rubber ducks. makes much more sense now. and a very cool idea.

What to Say When the Ducks Show Up

I, for one, am going to know what to say when the ducks show up. I've made a list of phrases, and although I don't know which one to use yet, they are all good enough in case they showed up tomorrow. Many people won't know what to say when the ducks show up, but I will. Maybe I'll say, "Oh wonderful ducks!" I practice my sayings every day, and even though the ducks haven't come yet, when they do, I'll know what to say.
