Trucker Fags in Denial

Trucker Fags in Denial (Probably NSFW)-You can only read these comix in reverse, but it's still strange, interesting, creepy stuff.
Just bizarre. Whether it's true or not - who knows? But either way, it's just bizarre.

Hmph. It's perfectly ridiculous to suggest that any uncomfortableness a given person might feel about homosexuality might be related to an unexpressed desire for a bit of the horizontal mambo with someone of the same sex.
Oh, and Jim Blanchard is fantastic.

I'd say it's safe for 'many' workplaces, since it's not that obviously rude if your boss saw it from 20 feet away. Well, not compared to full technicolour hardcore porn videos on your screen with unexpected sound yelling out 'I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORN' from your speakers, anyway ;-)
I have friends who look at a lot worse things I send them at work, lol.

homophobes and gay haters are not necessarily closeted homosexuals, but there are definitely closeted homosexuals who express some of the thoughts in this comic... though it is obviously over the top parody.

Someone sure doth protest an awful lot...

A traveling salesman's car broke down one evening on a lonely road and he asked at the only farm house in sight. "Can you put me up for the nite?"
"I reckon I can," said the farmer. "But you'll have to share the room with my young son." "How about that!" gasped the salesman. "I'm in the wrong joke."

The key difference perhaps being the one between "any uncomfortableness" and "obsessive, irrational hatred and a lust for violence". People characterized by the latter often make me think "closet case".
Anecdote that proves nothing whatsoever: I worked with a guy back in Indiana, a super-self-righteous evangelical Catholic guy with a rather fervent distaste for gay people. He got caught last year inviting the teenage boys on the little league team he coached over to his apartment to jerk off to porn on his computer while his hidden webcam preserved their performances for posterity. (I hope he's not going through what I think he's going through in prison right now.)
[NB: His interest in males is the point here; any specific interest he had in younger people is an unrelated matter. I imply no connection between the two.]

Pretty cute, but needs more about trucking in it. I hoped to see more about late-night frolicking at rest tops and other familiar highway venues.
Come to think of it, now I know why so many weigh stations are closed after dark.

It's not really going to last long as a strip though, with just one idea. Maybe I'll buy the book.

"rest tops" hmmm? Thank you, Dr. Freud.
My favorite panel in the comic is the lampoon of Tom of Finland. Fitted in place perfectly. Funny, only a fag would notice (ha!).
One of my fondest memories is of a trucker. I was 15 and he was maybe 20. He didn't act outwardly homophobic, but after our fun he explained that folks thereabouts (Tennessee) would kill people like me. Since he did not behave at all hostile, I accepted it as a warning (I was hitching cross-country).

Wrong - I can think of two other (admittedly european & gay) comic artists who've made references to Tom of Finland in their works: Nazario & Ralf König.
/Used to read way too many comics, now I just read a lot of them

On the other hand, it might just as easily be perfectly sincere jerkoff fantasy by somebody who wishes there were redneck homosexual homophobes to beat him up, but doesn't dare go look for any. Always too many masochists, not enough sadists--or so the anthropologists tell me.
Same thought applies to Tom el Finn, btw, just substitute "Nazi" for "redneck."

Yes, he's a complete rageball, but when he's on target, there's nobody better or more right.
Plus he likes Slade and Merle Haggard.

Of course I can't find it now, but someone somewhere did a study on homophobic men, showing them gay porn and measuring their response to it. Apparently very homophobic men, er, react to gay porn at a significantly higher rate than non-homophobic men, supporting the claim that violent homophobia might very well be hiding some secret longings.
Hehhee the study made me laugh. Wish I could find it again.

Well, obviously. They're worried it's catching or something. Or they equate "gay" with "weak" & "effeminate" which I can tell you from experience is far from the truth. For the average sane straight guy, there may be a period of adjustment to gay folk, but if you know who you are, then it really shouldn't be much to get over.

Uh...I'm rereading this trying to figure out whether you were following me. I meant: blatantly homophobic men were getting erections at a higher rate than non-homophobic straight men while watching gay porn. Is that what you meant by 'obviously'?

Yes, since their aroused the gay material, they're fearing what's in themselves, which in turn makes them violently homophobic.
