The Korean War may finally be coming to an end.

The Korean War may finally be coming to an end. And I'm completely serious about that. In 1953 an armistice was signed, but no peace treaty has ever been negotiated and technically the war has been going on for nearly 50 years. They may actually be about to end it.

For this rail project, though, the big winner might be Russia. It would be cheaper and faster for Japan and South Korea to ship high tech goods via rail across Russia than by ship, either direction. It's a LONG WAY by sea from Japan to France. And while ships are preposterously efficient at moving bulk cargo cheaply, they're not known for speed.

...course, it means the Russians are going to have to keep their own rail system working, which these days might be something of a challenge.
