McDonald's: The Videogame. A scathing critique of lousy corporate and environmental practices, or an entertainingly complex little game about the fast food industry? A little from column A, a little from column B. Torch diseased cows with the flamethrower, corrupt politicians and environmentalists, plant genetically modified soy in what used to be the rain forests of South America, force your employees to smile all the livelong day, and try not to bankrupt the company. Be sure to read the tutorial first. (Flash.)

Even if I weren't a vegan, I'd find this funny.

Mmm... gooey....

"You'll discover all the dirty secrets that made us one of the biggest company of the world."

When you think of all the care that went into this beautiful presentation, you'd think they'd proofread the front page.

Haven't actually played the game to draw my own conclusions, but I saw this posted in the Consumerist a bit ago.

We’re not quite sure what this “anti-advergame” from MolleIndustria is supposed to be teaching us, but here’s what we learned...Running a profitable, multinational corporation takes a lot of hard work and skill...It’s fun to incinerate cows with a flamethrowing robot."

Here's what I learned: if I took over McDonalds, I could put it out of business in about 48 seconds.

So far my top "score" has been about $140,000, and I managed to keep the business running until the year 2091, when the whole system came crashing down -- I somehow ran out of burgers, and when cows finally came into the feedlot I was out of fodder and the cows starved to death (turned into skeletons) while the queues in the store just built up. Ah, the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles...

It did load eventually, just took a really long time.

At first glance I was totally hoping for a remake of the classic McDonalds commercial NES game McKids.

I'd prefer it if they didn't force you to be corrupt to succeed. I know, I know, that's the whole point...

McKids! The instant I heard that word (though in England it was called McDonaldland I think?) I heard the shrill theme music in my ears. There's conditioning for ya :P
