James "Kibo" Parry is one of the original Internet rock-stars, IMHO. When I first got access to Usenet via a UNIX shell account at uni, he was very active on the newsgroups.
One of his tricks was that any time "Kibo" was mentioned in any newsgroup, he would always reply. Today, with search engines everywhere, the ability to pull a random string of characters out of a giant data feed is not terribly impressive, but it was at the time.
So yes, I think he always had too much time on his hands :)
