Discovered my first major "What?! NO NO NO NO NO! BAD APPLE!" change in the new operating system. It's no longer easy in the Music/iPod app to go to Genre and then click the shuffle play all option. In fact, it's not even possible.

The only fix I have seen pop up so far is to tell Siri to shuffle or something to that regard. I don't like Siri. I don't use Siri. Boo this change.

The giant elephant in the room here is that we don't support parents, especially moms, in this society. No paid leave, no daycare subsidies, no in-home care when babies are small and exhausting, no flexibility at work, no real support during lactation (which is a bitch to establish for most women) nothing. If we treated childbearing with the seriousness it deserves, we'd stop treating like an extreme novelty hobby and fucking help the people doing the work.

There's no limit to what raccoons will do for Delicious Food (or Delicious Garbage, which I guess is the same thing to them).

I'm pretty sure that with an Arduino and some sort of trapdoor-box and a large quantity of Jif Extra Crunchy, you could train raccoons to solve the Traveling Salesman problem in polynomial time, or dramatically improve Netflix recommendations, or cure cancer.

Taking a player's stupid remarks as an indication as to who you should root for makes so much sense.

Sports are, at their heart ridiculous. Poorly educated and overly developed steroid abusers running in circles and hitting each other, with gladitorial fans screaming for blood in the stands. That being the case, it seems that rooting for the team that employs slightly fewer openly ignorant assholes is as valid a thought-process as any.

Throw out the TV.

Ten years of time watching TV spend doing almost anything else *will* make you a better you. You don't fondly remember watching the 2003 NFL season. You don't remember the 2007 run of General Hospital. Except for that one awesome day in 2009, the Price is Right isn't doing it for you, and season 3 of NCIS might have been fun at the time, but isn't a lasting memory or a lasting skill.

Twenty years ago they built a shopping mall in my tiny tourist town. At this point the top floor is completely empty (save for a ski sale once a year) the main floor is half empty (good bye Louis Vutton, Benetton, La Senza, ski shop, etc.) and the lowest level lost its main tenant, the CD/DVD/hot girl on a motorcycle poster store. It saddens me to think that it might still be viable with a 30% occupancy rate, I'd much rather see it torn down completely.

I am very happy that my wife and I had our daughter--she is the apple of my eye--but I was 37 years old, am now 40, and it can be a little exhausting. That said, I have ten more years of wisdom I can give her.
