It's a rat cage. Mastered version: For Felix (And All The Rats).

That's even better. I like rats. They're smart and cute. :)

I remember seeing them in Cleveland around '99/'00 (their Seattle show no doubt inspired this post—couldn't make it). It was a great show. One of them had a camera and was projecting the video of himself jabbing this weird, noise-making pointy thing into his skin.

My love for Matmos is in no way diminished having seen that video. Indeed, it is grown.

It's before 5am, and I somehow read this as "cat rage" and was completely flummoxed.
I've never heard of Matmos, so s/he may very well be a raging cat.

Drew: Doing violence to pianos is sort of like playing “Blue Suede Shoes”, I mean, it’s got a very long heritage. Is this too bandy for Butt?
Martin: Can we talk about sex again?

[Bjork] gets a bit disappointed when everyone’s like, “Pizza!”

I mean, I understand that he's probably referring to people on tour wanting to order pizza, but damned if I didn't just imagine a bunch of people who know and love that gif like I know and love that gif running up to Bjork and just saying 'PIZZA!' and hoping she says 'Word. Pizza.' back.

Sometimes I sit in my laundry basket and tickle my ears. Sometimes not. Pizza!

Yeah, this post is inspired by seeing Matmos and Mouse on Mars last night here in Seattle thanks to a life long friend, and going through live YouTube videos, and because I recently found some decent speakers in the trash. And Dr. Drew even bummed smokes off me last night and I asked him for spare change to buy a beer in return without knowing I was about to watch him play and we nerded out about music and I didn't even recognize him and I was embarrassed.

Anyway, if this post gets carsonb to a Matmos show in a graveyard in LA, then this post and Metafilter is exceeding its function and all is well.

Anybody else glance at this quickly and get "cat rage?" That would also make interesting sampling.

Matmos are currently Baltimore's Own Matmos, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to cross paths with them, partly because I get all Vivian Vance and shy at the very prospect and partly because I work too much and then don't ever go out.

But boy, they are the genuine article.

I saw these guys do this sort of thing on Halloween 2000 at the Knitting Factory. Rachel's were on the bill too, who very coincidentally also have a post just a few hours up on today's MeFi roll. Go figure.

I got 'Mentos + cat rage'. 'Disappointed' doesn't quite cut it.

So, this show is actually in the Masonic Lodge inside Hollywood Forever, which just exponenttializes the awesomeness. Horse Lords just finished their opening set and Matmos just turned the lights down. It's past my bedtime.
