Fantastic.

Also, am I missing something, or do a lot of these seem more like OKC conversations than texts?

Hey it's those guys from Inside Gaming!

It's actually encouraging that you can hear so many of the guys in the audience reacting with shock and distaste.

Being middle aged and married and unhip and totally invisible and irrelevant to every sort of scene that's going anywhere just keeps getting better every day.

As with everything else, it's the 80/20 rule. A small minority ruins it for everyone.

They got the texts from this tumblr.

Yeah, what KokuRyu said. I don't know any guys who wouldn't find these texts distasteful. It's kind of off-putting to act surprised that men with a basic level of human decency exist.

But, back to TFA—I was expecting something a little more like this, not just people reading unrehearsed. The original Tumblr is better, IMHO. (I'm not sure what "straight" or "white" has to do with it, but anything that shames these twits and entertains me in the process is a net positive.)

Yeah , its a minority that commits this shit, the majority does nothing, and an even smaller minority than the first steps in to stop it. Sorry not sorry for being relieved when men have a response other than passivity. I just wish it'd happen in spaces other than which its expected of them, or that its safe to do so.

But I'm gonna get off the "not all men" train and comment on how different my reaction is from the tumblr and the video. Reading the tumblr its like"oh woohoo another asshole on the internet". But the video is rather jarring. Its funny, like, we know there are assholes on the internet. But do we think they somehow don't exist in meatspace? Of course not. Still. Seeing it in person is way more disturbing.

Hilarigross. Reminds me of this extremely NSFW gay version.

This is actually more the point I was getting at - I know full well that it is only a minority of guys who send texts like this, and I was reacting more to how vocal members of the majority were in expressing their distaste rather than just sitting in uncomfortable silence.

I get that it's a minority who does this. But right now it's also a minority who speaks out about how it's bullshit, and I was taking this as a sign that that minority was growing and so yay.

Oh gosh I think I just got something for this. A guy on OKC emailed me a message that read, in its entirety - "Do I want my hands in your hair as much as I think I do?"

I emailed back to point out that a) not only was this a profoundly weird thing to say to someone who'd never met him before, but also b) I'd told him precisely the same thing the LAST time he emailed me exactly the same message two weeks ago.

...Not really lame enough for the tumblr though, I'm afraid. Sigh. (Although - I don't wanna post a link to his profile, because he'd see I visited him, but do yourselves a favor if you have an OKC account and do a search for a New-York-area guy named "EvolvedSpeciMan".)

This reminds me of r/creepypms, which I read whenever I feel like being amused/exasperated/want to commiserate.

EvolvedSpeciMan

That username alone sounds like reason enough to avoid him.

I'm starting to think that "how to text girls and not be an asshole about it" needs to be something parents take care to inculcate in future generations.

If memory serves: he is wearing a lime green tutu and a huge multi-colored clown wig, and carrying a small white dog. And that was the only photo he had posted.

Oooh, are we posting our own now? Ok, here's the worst I've gotten

"Ok serious question how does a guy fuck you from behind? Cause that ass is huge"

Isn't that just a great icebreaker

Yet again, I am reminded of my friend's observation that "this is why women are like that."
