Turbo Tanks Game

Turbo Tanksis a vector graphics based Flash game where you control one tank vs another from a top down view, using ammunition that ricochets a lot. Each tank can sustain ten hits from live ammo, and each level has shifting obstacles (the "buildings" in the way for the ammo to bounce off of) so a good strategy is to catch your opponent in a heavy collision alley and unleash your entire weapon stock at once). Massive nerds will be reminded of Armor Attack for the Vectrex.

Very nice. Anybody else think those sound effects are from Spectre?

That's weird. The Spectre I played as a kid on the old Performa was developed by Velocity Games, not Synergistic Software. And I could probably research this.

This is very fun. However, to engage in a spot of pedantry, it's not flash, it's java. Also, I can't decide if the lines of the obstacles not being straight is genius or madness.

The first few levels lull you into thinking that the thing is predictable and stupidly tends to back itself into a corner. Then it turns into a demon.

Alright, alright I get it already - it's Java, not flash, my sincerest apologies. I just made a quick assumption & should have looked closer. Hopefully, no ones hard drives were wiped by my mistatement.

wooo hooo! finaly something in java, the under-used yet most awsome way to make web-based video games.

It's much more powerful then flash, but the programs are much less likely to actually run...

Has anyone beaten level 7 yet? The enemy tank plays defense on the opposite side of a tunnel. Oh, and it has great multiple bounce aim.

I played this awhile ago and got really far (something like lvl 20+) and then it became virutally impossible. I don't have the codes anymore, but I remember this being a fun game.

I remember Bolo. I remember being up past midnight on a school night, having snuck out of my room to go play Bolo on the old green screen monitor. In the dark. And getting seriously creeped out when I suddenly came across one of those enemy-churning hive-base things.

I have it for PalmOS now. :)

There is a much better flash version of this game without all the java hassles, although I guess the retro line art look of this one is nice.

When you beat stage 15 it says, "**** WOW! **** You have beaten the game!"

That makes me feel much better about Falconetti's claim of having gotten to level 20+ above.

I love that this game is basically at the same level of complexity as Space War and I'm still enthralled by it. All this progress in the game industry seems pretty superfluous upon reflection :)
