Interesting idea; but what kind of monitor would I need not to scroll this site?

What kind of monitor would I need not to scroll this site?

Fits just fine, and kindly it only swallows up most of ONLY ONE of my (1920x1200) monitors.

Sarcasm off: yes it's rude. Typically-indulgent photographer layout. I'm surprised it's not all in Flash with indecipherable navigation that he thinks is "clever."

"click goat droppings for more information."

Get the feeling Jeff Bridges made this site himself? He did a better job than most.

Ah, I got all weepy and nostalgic for landing pages and animated gifs. This whole site is a find.

boo_radley : looks like it's 1700 wide, plus the chrome.

If there's anyone here who doesn't have to scroll their screen to view this then I want to be the first to say that I fecking hate them. :)

Some nice photos in there but I'm getting bored of scrolling already. I'm going to go back to playing Sonice the Hedgehog...

Hater-ing aside, the photos are nice. The whole subject is nice. The black and white is nice. The panaflex(?) is nice. Jon Favreau's beard is nice. The movie they made, I thought, was much better than it needed to be, which was nice. The lay-out was not so nice. It's nice. I'm glad to have seen it. Time perfectly well spent.

"HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE" just links right back to the main page.

That's the best summary of Iron Man ever.

Hey, I didn't think I could like Jeff Bridges any more than I already do. Thanks for proving me wrong. (And I'm glad this wasn't Robert Downey Jr.'s website.)

I was just looking at this and seeing if I could make an FPP on Jeff Bridges photography. Things I learned

1. he photographs all his movies while he's shooting them, pretty much
2. He's been with his same body double Loyd Catlett through 47 movies. Here's a great picture of them together in The Last Picture Show (scroll down)
3. How can you not love a man whose links page has one that just says "mom"?

Very interesting, I liked that look behind the scenes and the commentary. Usually when I hear "Jeff Bridges" I think Tron or The Dude, but it seems that guy is an both interesting and interested fellow...

Robert Downey Jr's site would have him smirking behind a half-filled glass of whiskey on every page. Just kidding, I love the guy.

He's had the same body double in 47 movies! If only somebody who looks just like me would get famous, then I could be in the movies without having to be any good at acting.

I only saw IronMan because of Robert Downey Jr.

It was worth it.

EXT. CITY - NIGHT

The Iron Monger is victorious - Iron Man lays battered and broken on the skylight. The Iron Monger's armoured shell swings open, revealing a bearded, bleary-eyed slacker dressed in a terrycloth bathrobe, White Russian in hand. He peers around, confused.

IRON MONGER: This is, uhh...what day is this?

IRON MAN: You have to stop this, Stane!

IRON MONGER: Hmm?

Iron Man/Tony Stark struggles gamely to his feet.

IRON MONGER: You uhh...you're not supposed to do that, man.

IRON MAN: It's just you and me, Obadiah!

IRON MONGER: Wait, uh, man, I'm not this...Obadiah, I'm The Dude.

Iron Man/Tony Stark powers up his remaining plasma fist thing.

IRON MONGER: Hey! You...oh, what the fuck, man, you ripped out my targeting system!

Iron Man/Tony Stark unleashes a sizzling bolt of plasma, blasting the Iron Monger backwards off the roof.

IRON MONGER: It really tied the suit togeth-BLEEEEARGH!

That's why I've always been grateful for Robert Redford.

I was really confused looking at this -- everyone looked so normal! And it was all so high budget! No nakedness, even!

And then I realized it was Iron Man, not Burning Man.

I have 17 monitors, and each one of them is able to display two copies of this side side-by-side without any scrolling. Did I mention they're also in 3-D?

Also, my computer is the size of a paperclip and runs on hope.

Yeah, me.

And those shots of the director talking on his cell phone and getting a haircut were mesmerizing. (seriously, wtf and who cares)

On a 1600 wide monitor you only have to shove the browser a bit off the left edge to see all of the photos on both sides without scrolling. Won't work if you maximize of course. But I'd be more irritated I was viewing this on a laptop.

Anyone else think his body double doesn't look much like him? I don't mean the blonde (although I was confused by jessamyn's link at first), but the guy looks shorter, and seems to hold himself differently.

I guess it must not matter, because never during Jeff's movies have I said "Wait, that's not Jeff Bridges!"

Maybe I'm out of line but I'm not sure what the big deal is with having to scroll. I'd criticize if he was a commercial photographer looking to increase exposure and sell his work but he's not. I mean did anyone else peek under the hood to see if the code validates? What about the META tags? Search-optimized? Gimme a break.

The photos are set up that way to mimic the set diaries he makes as presents for the staff with the remainder sold to benefit a charity. Personally, I would rather have the large images and scroll left to right than the alternative: tiny thumbnails that I'd have to click on and display in a new tab/window for every single image.

I don't care if it's true, I love the idea that is is Jeff Bridge's actual personal site and he takes arty photos and puts up animated gifs. Maybe he is just the Dude. It would explain a lot.

I think the double isn't in the movie--but is the person they use to set up shots, test lighting, and so on, so they don't waste the stars' time. And then when all of that has happened, they bring out the stars to act.

Neat link. And thanks for the supporting info, Jessamyn.

And I was not bothered at all by the scrolling on a 13" Macbook. I just had to move my hand to the right instead of down.

The page is so wide to accommodate the shots of Jon Favreau. Man, has he put on the pounds. He looks like Homer Simpson in a mumu.

Nice hyperbole there. No keyboard I know of has "page left" and "page right" keys. Mice don't often have scroll left/right wheels. Though I suspect that new apple mouse does, can, or eventually will support something like it. On a very few environments, the scroll wheel will scroll the page horizontally if it is actually pointed at a horizontal scroll bar, but this isn't common and I suspect those few who have it won't know about it.

My sweet-ass acer aspireone netbook has the thing where you tap on the bottom on third or right one third of the mousepad and slide your finger to scroll horizontally or vertically. I don't know what it's called but it's freaking awesome. Also you can swirl your finger in a circle and make it do other sweet tricks.

doesn't work if you been drinkin.
