on roller skates that are linked to the track. Hmpf! posted by cavalier at 2:52 PM on July 22, 2009
You can see his um...excitement...quite clearly here. He's adorable! posted by sixswitch at 3:00 PM on July 22, 2009
Yikes, that seems way too risky. If one "skate" hung up on the wood track, he'd still keep going, which would pull the bad skate off the track, and then worse things would happen. posted by smackfu at 3:15 PM on July 22, 2009

Oh, it was a German rollercoaster.
He should try that on some of the baddies we have here in the US.

This is why I support adrenaline clinics, so junkies can get their fix in a safe, secure environment without having to resort to such extreme measures.
Actually I thought the stunt was kind of tame. Not so fast, and really he was locked into the tracks, so maybe a really gruesome knee injury was the main risk.
Actually, if anybody wants awe inspiring, and hasn't watched it yet, there's this. posted by Flashman at 4:12 PM on July 22, 2009 [7 favorites]
Apparently adrenaline junkies get a huge rush from wearing extremely dorky leather suits. posted by digsrus at 4:49 PM on July 22, 2009
That looks amazing! Are those levers on the skates sometime of brake?

Everyone believed he was mad...everyone except Dagny Taggart, that is! posted by The Card Cheat at 5:11 PM on July 22, 2009 [1 favorite]
OK that looked stupid, and i don't mean stupid cool. I've gone faster on skis, and it was edited so that we couldn't see that he couldn't get up enough speed to go up the hills. Aside from a possible groin pull from the tracks being so far apart it didn't look all that dangerous or adrenaline inducing. hell i was expecting him to be on a steel track coaster with nothing but inline skates, grinding down a near vertical drop. posted by OHenryPacey at 5:54 PM on July 22, 2009
Are those levers on the skates sometime of brake?
I thought they were just to give him something to hold onto. posted by dammitjim at 6:48 PM on July 22, 2009
Ouch, my quadriceps. And what's that muscle on the inside of your thighs just above your knees? Ouch, that one too. posted by zinfandel at 9:36 PM on July 22, 2009
