Interactive Fiction Competition 2009

I was just thinking about this last night, but I wasn't at a computer so I couldn't check. I knew it was around now. I didn't get around to beta-ing this year, so I get to play all of them - for better or worse.

I'll be writing reviews again this year, although I have to finalize my schematic to make it less cranky. My biggest hope - except for a Rybread comeback, which is a self-loathing sort of hope - is that Eric Eve's cut down on the twee this year. Last year we got into a bit of a dialogue about it, but afaik, the twee-ness was the biggest complaint he faced and if he can pull off what he did last year with a less Wes Anderson vibe, then more power to him.

I'm reviewing as well, and so is my girlfriend.

Hers are funnier, so far. Grumble.

Is Eric Eve back? 'Cause his Nightfall game really stuck with me, and I thought the twee was more of the G.K. Chesterton variety. He is some sort of actual British scholar or something.

He is, he's got a game called "Snowquest".

Oh, god, I need the post-edit. I'm sleep deprived enough that I miss-spoke when I said Eve was the twee one. No no no, I take it back, I liked his! That twee-writer fellow doesn't appear to have submitted a game this year.

I'm aiming for one review a day. Also, don't even bother with Trap Cave if you don't read German.

Confirming that your GF's blog is hilarious. Emily Short linked to it.

Yep, I added pissylittlesausages to my rss-reader, that's great. Also, it turns out that you work a few blocks from where I'm sitting which is an oddly weird thing to realize about a Random Internet Stranger.

in case anyone is reading this, I quite enjoyed Broken Leg -- very, very different and a bit like a teen girl version of Make It Good, if you played that one.
