If you're ever doubting that there is any good left in the world, Maru makes it all better.

(Also she has the same serious face + airplane ears as my baby does when he's super intense and making biscuits. N'aww.)

What is Maru holding in his mouth?

I love Maru. Here’s Maru in a pumpkin, it’s seasonally appropriate.

I think that might have been a plastic collar? Maybe Maru made a visit to the vet?

I think I've been carving pumpkins wrong all this time.

How do I unlock the secret cat level?

Oh my god, Maru's person got him a fish tank.

He, not she. Hana is she (I think?). My apologies, kittenface.

I believe that Maru has a straw in his mouth. There are other videos that show him playing with straws.

My cats like them as well, although not as much as that strip of plastic that you tear off when you open a resealable bag.

The thing that amazes me about Maru is that his person always shows a devastatingly minimal living space that apparently has hiding spaces for hundreds of Maru baits, containers, toys, treats, hats, and other bits and bobs.

Yeah, my dear departed Melanie used to get that I AM DEEPLY ENGAGED IN SERIOUS BUSINESS face at biscuit-making time. She also used it in the litter box, especially when digging and covering. afterward. I'd always ask her if she was trying to dig her way to China.

What is Maru holding in his mouth?

Looks like a juice-box straw that has been chewed up.

I do this all the time. Also to the left draw string of every single hoodie I own or have ever owned.

xyzzy: right? I want a tour of Maru's person's house. I get the same "ooh everything has a spot and you can't see it!" feeling from seeing the videos that I do when I read the Ikea catalog

The thing in his mouth is the bait for the fishing pole lying nearby. You can see the line at the beginning of the video, and at 1:00 the pole twitches.

In metafilter threads related to disasters in Japan there is almost always a "Maru is OK" comment. Sometimes I inadvertently hold my breath...

His humans are obviously practitioners of Maru Kondo.

That thing in his mouth makes him look kind of Gallic and world-weary: “I know, I know, it is foolish, all this bread kneading, but what can one do?”

Maru's person must have incredible control over their emotions - I slid off my chair laughing at the fishtank video and the hysterical sequel.

Yeah exactly -- I thought it might be a toothpick but actually looks more like a short pipe-cleaner.

However, Maru, that's not bread -- merely a clever pan-cushion.

Every time I see a new Maru video I have to mentally shut down the part of my brain that automatically does the math on the number of years that has elapsed since the first Maru video I saw.

I mentioned recently in an AskMe thread that Maru's channel is one of my own cat's favourite things to watch. Needless to say, the cat and I have both already watched Maru knead bread. :)

easternblot, the fact that your cat likes to watch Maru is incredible and wonderful and, i think the teens would say, wholesome af

I presume that the half of the room we can't see is FILLED with crap that got shoved out of the camera's view. That doesn't account for the lack of dust kittens, though.
