Backwards . . . into the future A cab driver in India, who's driven only in reverse gear for the last two years (at speeds up to 85 kph, and without accident), hopes his upcoming trip will bring about peace with Pakistan.

Somehow this sort of record setting exaggeration of the commonplace always seems to come from India. Whether it's the guy who memorized pi to 10,000 decimal places or the record for facial hair growth, or the guy who stood in the same spot for a decade, Indian culture has seized on this sort of extreme repetition of the mundane as a means to attain transcendence. What will they think of next???

85 kph in reverse ?! I thought only a DAF could do that.

I think we should give him a special visa so he can drive a taxi in reverse through NYC.

"I do have pains in the neck - frequent pains in the neck - and I have had severe vomiting in past," he explained.

That just says it all. This man's dedication should be admired -- how many of you would invoke severe vomiting for world peace, hmm? ;-)

Woody Allen had a bit which went like, "I had a rental car, and to save on the mileage, I drove everywhere backwards. So I was backing over the George Washington bridge...".
