Wow. That ElectriClerk is amazing.

odinsdream: if you enjoyed 12 Monkeys, you should check out Brazil, which provided, I think, the direct inspiration for this mod. There's a picture about halfway down this page.

Yep, " this piece was inspired by the retro-futuristic machines in the movie Brazil by Terry Gilliam."

And that is probably the single coolest case mod I've ever seen (even though it doesn't have a case). The movie is awesome, too.

Brazil is superb. Highly recommended and, in fact, I'm gonna add it to my NetFlix queue in the next tab over. And the Electri-Clerk is very, very impressive.

I like the MacAquariums alot too.

Ooooohh, I wonder what it's like typing on the ElectriClerk? I know that's not the point, but what a great machine.

The whole thing reminded me of this, discussed here.

I'm also a sucker for just about anything made out of a Mac Classic.

The ElectriClerk also looks like the computer in Pi.

Cool! The yearn to make computers different appears to be quite strong - especially when it comes to making old machines useful (or interesting) again. And to be quite honest, old Macintosh machines were pretty ugly to begin with :-)

There's been a couple of sites where they've modded up old Amiga A600's recently.
I got bitten by the bug after seeing these sites, since selling the machine would probably only have netted me 20 quid or so on eBay. It's good fun - if a little messy - and although quite a challenge to figure it all out, it's nice to look at it and say "I did that".

Of course, I don't think that any of this is even remotely in the same league as the other PC case mods that have been fpp'd...

Geeky? Creative? Impressive nontheless IMO...

Most of these mods are lame, but the Brazil one is hot. I'm surprised I've never seen it before.

Case modding?!? HA! We PC owners have been doing this for YEARS!!! Just another another example of Mac users ripping us off.

(sorry had to do it)

what an interesting convergence ... I have an old, cast metal manual type writer, and literally two days ago I said to my wife, "I wonder if you could hook this thing up as a USB keyboard to something like a new flat panel iMac?"

Lo and behold!

Metafilter to the rescue
