"Loadingicon are small, trippy-looking color-limited .gifs that would make good or at least interesting animated icons or loading screens.
Gifs posted should be a closed loop, and animated either by hand or computer.
Gifs drawn from film, television, or other video sources are not allowed. Reposts or posts that otherwise aren't a good fit may be removed at the mods' discretion.

If you like these (and I do, thanks for posting growabrain) I strongly recommend the work of Patakk. (previously)

So as long as the thread displaying the gif doesn't halt, the user still thinks something's happening? Weak.

I like marble madness. I'd be really interested in articles discussing the tooling and workflow used to create these. I'd guess someone scripted POV-Ray to make that one, but I don't know what you'd use for the line art style ones. I suppose you could use Processing or D3 or something like that but have it render to a file writer backend? I can't imagine manually drawing each frame, but I'd guess that some of them come down to that.

I would love some of these (or Patakk's stuff linked above) as wall art. Why are digital picture frames universally awful?

That android one is the bootanimation for the custom rom I'm running. Makes me happy every time I'm forced to see it.
