Yo La Tengo 2018 WFMU All-Request Marathon TODAY
March 10, 2018 8:59 AM   Subscribe

Yo La Tengo are once again playing requests for pledges beginning at 3pm US EDT TODAY (Sat March 18) on WFMU. Every year, Yo La Tengo perform requests live on-air in exchange for pledges, to help keep freeform noncommercial radio station WFMU (91.1 FM in Jersey City, NJ) on the air. This year is no exception. They will begin playing at 3pm US EDT today, and will be playing listener requests for several more hours.

For those who don't live in the broadcast area, WFMU is available to stream on their site, and also via TuneIn and radio.net.

In the past few years, they've also done the Yo La Tengo show (and some other Marathon stuff) on live video streaming. I hope they do this year.

This is their 20th consecutive year doing this for the benefit of WFMU, and Metafilter has been covering this off and on for 16 years. For those who don't know, trashflow is actually Ken Katkin. of Trashflow radio. He appears annually on Metafilter, just like Punxsutawney Phil. but with more accurate information. with constant playlist updates in this thread throughout the three hour show. I take it Ken took the day off from his show for this. :)

I am a huge WFMU fan who calls into their shows sometimes as Aaron in Minneapolis using text to speech, so I look forward to this thread every year.

Also, this won't be archived, so catch it live if you can!

Yikes. I'm not sure how anyone figured out about my own radio show, but sadly I don't have a sub for today so I will be on-air in Cincinnati during YLT's all-request marathon today and will not be able to post a playlist here in real time. I hope to listen to a recording afterwards, and will probably post a playlist here tomorrow if no one has already done so.

Ken Freedman linked a YLT Metafilter thread in a newsletter a few years back with your name attached. Apologies if you didn't wanna be featured in this thread

Lets all call and request Blue Line Swinger.

Sorry, trolling.

No worries about identifying me. It's not that I have any objection to it. It's just that I was surprised anyone would bother to do it!

I'm really impressed with the video stream this year. WFMU has really improved in its ability to do live events. Shame that these don't get archived.

I requested "Living Next Door to Alice." I'm starting to get nervous that it didn't make the cut.

I’ve wanted to call and ask them to cover Sugar’s “The Act We Act” in a Georgia-sung whispery ambient folk arrangement for years, but I never seem to learn about this in time...
